A total of 17 Al Jazira first-team players have received the Covid-19 vaccine at Healthpoint, a Mubadala Health partner.
The vaccination roll-out came as part of the Pride of Abu Dhabi’s continuous social responsibility efforts and the UAE’s country-wide campaign to encourage members of the community to receive their vaccinations.
Speaking on taking part of the campaign, Al Jazira Chief Executive Officer Mr. Ali Youssif Al Hammadi said: “Al Jazira is a key part of the community in Abu Dhabi and across the country. Every one of us at the club realises this standing and embraces the responsibility that comes with it towards our society. That is why we chose to take part in this initiative and played our part in the national drive to fight against the pandemic and help bring life and sport back to normality.”
First-team player Ali Mabkhout commented: “We are fully aware of our responsibility as role models and athletes that the community looks up to, especially when it comes to health and wellbeing. By being among the first to take the vaccine, we wanted to send a clear message to our fellow members of the society showcasing how important it is for them, their families and communities to be vaccinated, and how vital it is to continue to follow the health protocols.”
“Being healthy and fit athletes does not mean we can treat the pandemic any differently to everyone else. Individual health is integral to the society’s collective health, and vaccination is the only way to overcome the difficult period the world is going through. I chose to vaccinate, and I urge everyone to do the same as soon as they can.”
From Healthpoint’s side, Medical Director Dr. Mai Ahmed Al Jaber added: “Mubadala Health has been proactively supporting the national vaccination program from the outset, making vaccines as accessible as possible through leveraging its patient-facing facilities and standalone vaccination booths. Like all of Mubadala Health’s providers, we at Healthpoint are focused on improving community health and we are delighted to be working with our partner Al Jazira Football Club to increase awareness about the importance of widespread vaccination. We urge all eligible citizens and residents to take this safe and effective measure to protect themselves and to reduce the spread and impact of Covid-19 in our communities.”
The club’s vaccination campaign was in collaboration with main partner Mubadala Health, and comes as part of the Department of Health and the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center’s efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19 and restore the health and safety among communities. Players received the first dose of their vaccines at Healthpoint, one of Mubadala Health’s integrated network of world-class healthcare providers.
The vaccination is available now for all UAE citizens and residents above the age of 16, provided they book an appointment by calling 800 4959 or [email protected].
