  • Coming up trumps: Javier Aguirre.

The buoyant mood in the Al Wahda camp has put them in prime condition to take on Saturday’s testing trip to double cup holders and Arabian Gulf League-high-flyers Al Nasr, according to coach Javier Aguirre.

The Clarets mixed start to 2015-16 ended in the last fixture before the international break when they claimed a fine 2-1 triumph against champions Al Ain.

With striker Sebastian Taglibue jointly leading the scoring charts and the club on the rise, ex-Mexico and Atletico Madrid boss Aguirre couldn’t wait for the resumption.

He said: “Victory pushes us towards hard work and to achieve wins. For example, everyone witnessed the morale of our players when we lost, and when we won against Al Ain the player’s drive towards gaining victory increased.”

Star playmaker Jorge Valdivia will be put through a fitness test, after his return from Chile duty.

Meanwhile, Al Wasl boss Gabriel Calderon has urged his team not to lose their scoring touch at bottom-placed Al Shaab.

The Cheetahs ended a three-match goalless run last weekend against Bani Yas in the Arabian Gulf Cup, Brazilian forwards Caio Can-edo and Fabio De Lima registering.

“Against Bani Yas the players created many chances, which are important to score goals,” the Argentine said. “I am sure that not only Caio, but also Fabio and Edgar Bruno will score many goals. The key thing is to create chances, and we do that now.”

Al Dhafra goalkeeper Abdulla Sultan is convinced the club will make up lost ground at Fujairah.

The second-bottom Western Knights claimed their first win in all competitions last time out against Shaab in the AG Cup.

He said: “We are ready to return back the points which we have lost at the beginning of the league.”
