  • Consolation strike: Michel N’Dri (r).

Coach Walter Zenga endured a losing Arabian Gulf League-return  as two-goal Al Shabab striker Jo helped put Al Shaab to the sword.

The former Al Ain, Al Nasr and Al Jazira supremo was in the dugout of the bottom-placed side for the first time after he took over on the weekend.

The Italian will be fully aware of the task facing him as the out-of-form Hawks ended a six-game winless streak with relative ease.

Zenga, 58, has wasted no time making it back to work after he was dismissed by Serie A’s Sampdoria last month. A stern test awaits.

Jo rose highest to head in playmaker Carlos Villanueva’s inviting cross on 30 minutes for Shabab, doubling his tally 10 minutes later from the penalty spot after forward Henrique Luvannor was felled.

The latter drilled a shot home to make it 3-0 on 58 minutes. Forward Michel N’Dri then tapped in a rebound from kick-off, but Shaab could not build on this lifeline.

Meanwhile, struggling Al Dhafra have brought in Syrian coach Mohammed Kwid for a third spell in charge after they sacked Laurent Banide on Monday.

The Western Knights sit third bottom after Saturday’s goalless draw with Sharjah. Kwid has previously guided them in 2008-09 and 2010-11.
