  • Proud boss: Ivan Jovanovic.

Al Nasr boss Ivan Jovanovic chose to reflect on a year of success as he prepared to wind up a breakthrough 2015 with a trip to Fujairah.

The Blue Wave ended a 26-year wait for a major domestic trophy with the Arabian Gulf Cup and President’s Cup double, in the process earning a return to the AFC Champions League.

They currently sit third as they continue to convert this joy into a push for the Arabian Gulf League crown.

“The game against Fujairah is the last game of 2015,” Jovanovic said. “A year which was a very good football year for our team.

“We achieved this season to win the President’s, Arabian Gulf Cup and compete in AFC Champions League.

“We also want to finish this season with one important last win against Fujairah. It is a good challenge in front of us to grab the three points we need for the league.”

Nasr head to Fujairah Stadium with injury doubts surrounding forward Jires Kembo Ekoko. In his possible absence, even more
emphasis surrounds Brazil striker Nilmar’s ability to remain on the goal trail after his long-overdue hat-trick in last weekend’s 5-1 triumph against struggling Al Shaab.

Jovanovic said: “It is important for team and for him also to conti-nue scoring goals. Nilmar was trying a lot from start of season, but the goals didn’t come for him.”
