He got the ball rolling against Iraq in what was a must-win encounter for The Whites, Khalil smashing home a thunderous volley via the crossbar.

    OCTOBER 6, 2016 – UAE 3-1 Thailand

A tired, stretched Thailand were picked apart by Khalil, Ali Mabkhout and Omar Abdulrahman with a 93rd minute raid that added some gloss to the scoreline.

The reigning AFC Asian Player of the Year levelled things with a fine free-kick, then chipped in a nonchalant ‘Panenka’ penalty.

    MARCH 24, 2016 – UAE 2-0 Palestine

The nerves on a fretful night in Abu Dhabi were eased as Khalil converted a 59th-minute penalty to double the Whites lead in this must-win, second round clash.

A relentless performance saw four goals scored against weakened O Sol Nascente. Only one of his predatory quartet came from the spot.

    OCTOBER 8, 2015 – Saudi Arabia 2-1 UAE

On a dispiriting night for coach Mahdi Ali’s men, Khalil’s thunderous set-piece from 30 yards was the only moment of quality.

    SEPTEMBER 3, 2015 – UAE 10-0 Malaysia

His first quartet of the campaign came in Abu Dhabi. Khalil even managed to score from an opposition kick-off to complete the rout.
