Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have denied a deal has been done for Antoine Griezmann to join the La Liga champions in the summer.

Spanish radio station Cadena Cope has revealed the Spanish champions have informed Atletico they will pay the striker’s 100 million euros release clause.

The future of the France international has been subject to speculation for several months and with the Europa League final to look forward to, Griezmann has a chance to leave Madrid a winner, if his time in the capital is to come to an end.

“Barcelona have told Atletico Madrid they are going to pay Antoine Griezmann’s get out clause,” the radio station said.

“And Atletico know the player will be leaving at the end of the summer.”

Atletico president Enrique Cerezo was asked if he met Griezmann for dinner to persuade him to stay at in the Spanish capital, and he replied: “I can tell you one thing – Antoine Griezmann is an Atletico Madrid as of today.

“I cannot tell you anything else because I do not know anything else.”

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde played down the story telling Spanish newspaper Sport: “Griezmann is a great player, there is no doubt about that, but we have to be careful and respectful when we’re talking about players that don’t play for us.

“In this case, we have to respect Atletico. We all know how good (Griezmann) is as a player. In the future we will see (about anything else).”
