  • Levante failed to stop Messi in January.

Levante are ready to try and break Barcelona‘s unbeaten run in La Liga by stifling Blaugrana’s creativity in midfield.

Marca reports that the Paco Lopez’s men will sit deep on Sunday evening (22:45) in an attempt to stop Barca’s creative fulcrum in Lionel Messi – and then themselves attack with potency down the wings.

The minnows have been in fine form since March, recording seven wins and just one defeat domestically, to comfortably secure their top-flight status.

The corresponding fixture in January between the two sides finished with a 3-0 victory for the Catalan giants, with Messi, Luis Suarez and Paulinho getting on the scoresheet at Camp Nou.

Barca are without the suspended Sergio Roberto for the trip south-east of Catalonia, with Nelson Semedo set to deputise at right-back and Thomas Vermaelen likely to start in place of the injured Samuel Umtiti.

Following his two-goal mid-week haul against Villarreal, Ousmane Dembele will retain his place in midfield but club Andres Iniesta should feature from the bench.
