The Cameroon-born France international’s new deal ties him to the club until 2023 and he will put pen to paper at the Nou Camp on Monday morning.
The 24-year-old defender, who had been linked with a move to Manchester United, has helped Barca win La Liga, two Copa del Reys and the Spanish Supercopa during his two seasons in Catalonia.
A Barcelona statement read: “Some great news for Barcelona fans, and it’s that Samuel Umtiti will continue wearing the shirt until 2023.
“The player, born in Yaounde in 1993, arrived at the club in 2016 from Lyon and in only two seasons has become an indispensable player in the Barca defence.”
Umtiti is part of Didier Deschamps’ 23-man France squad for this summer’s World Cup.

According to reports in France, the 24-year-old’s lawyers will be in Barcelona next week to ratify the deal.
Umtiti’s current contract runs until 2021, but the French international wants to extend for a further two years and increase his current release clause which stands at just €60m.
The former Lyon star has formed a solid defensive partnership with Gerard Pique at the centre of the Barcelona defence and the Catalan giants believe it will tough for them to find a replacement.
“It’s clear that I want to renew at Barca and I hope to be in the team next season.”
“I’m at a club that has helped me realise my dream. I have a contract and for me to go they will have to kick me out, I will not decide to leave,” Umtiti told L’Equipe.
The coming week will be a decisive one the transfer saga front as Griezmann is set to make that decision public.
It does, though, remain to be seen how he fits in with Ernesto Valverde’s plans.
