On Wednesday Toffees’ officials travelled to Spain to close the signing of the Blaugrana defender but Mundo Deportivo claim there is a notable difference between what the Camp Nou outfit are demanding and what the Premier League club are willing to pay.
Mundo Deportivo said Marco Silva’s side have shown ‘more interest’ in securing the services of the 25-year-old and the transfer is ‘simmering’ with negotiations between the two clubs ‘firm’ and currently ‘advancing’.
The Mirror reported Everton had offered €25m, but Catalan media disputes that figure saying that €16m would be enough, but Everton hadn’t reached that figure yet.
Barcelona paid €16.5m plus €4m in variables to Paris Saint-Germain in 2016 for the fullback – so will want at least €16m to let him go.
