  • Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel wants midfield star Adrien Rabiot to stay at the Parc des Princes, amid speculation the 23-year-old will sign for Barcelona before the transfer window slams shut.

The Frenchman, who missed out on Didier Deschamps’ World Cup-winning squad after struggling to secure regular game time last season with the Parisian giants under Unai Emery, has been given a new lease of life by Tuchel.

The German wants PSG to hold onto the midfielder and has urged Rabiot to sign a new contract extension, given his existing terms expire next summer.

However, with Blaugrana waiting in the wings to offer him a deal, Rabiot has a big decision to make over his future.

Although Barcelona have yet to table a substantial bid for his services, PSG are sending out all the right noises.

“I think there are still more levels for Rabiot to reach and I’m convinced there are still next levels to reach in this club, in his club where he comes from the youth academy,” Tuchel said ahead of his team’s friendly with Atletico Madrid stateside.

He added: “But we know about his contract situation and in this kind of situation it’s on the players to make a commitment.”
