  • Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is set to benefit from Germany head coach Joachim Low’s desire to experiment in Sunday’s friendly against Peru.

An experienced Die Mannschaft side played out an entertaining goalless draw with France when the inaugural Nations League kicked off on Thursday. A non-competitive run-out against South American opposition at Rhein-Neckar Arena presents an opportunity to switch things up and test other options from a nation who shamefully exited World Cup 2018 as holders in the group stage.

Ter Stegen, 26, has understudied Manuel Neuer since the Bayern Munich shot stopper’s return to full fitness in June.

“I have the possibility to make six changes tomorrow and I will exhaust that option given all the new players we have,” said Low. “Nico Schulz and Julian Brandt will definitely play.

“Ter Stegen will start from the beginning.”

Ter Stegen has earned 20 caps for Germany.
