  • Malcom is well down the pecking order at Barcelona.

Luis Suarez grabbed the headlines with a brilliant hat-trick as Barcelona thrashed Real Madrid 5-1 at the Camp Nou … but who else shone and who struggled?

Check out our full player ratings now.

    BARCELONA (4-3-3)

Marc-Andre Ter Stegen 6. Had little to do other than handle some hopeful long-range shots, although could perhaps have done better with the cross leading to Marcelo’s goal.

Sergi Roberto 8. Strong and energetic down the right, contributing fully in defence and attack including two assists for Suarez after he moved into midfield.

Gerard Pique 7. Occasionally troubled by the pace and power of Bale but produced some solid defending when his team was under heavy pressure in the second half.

Clement Lenglet 7. Confident and calm in the centre of defence, making an especially important intervention to deny Benzema a headed chance at a key stage.

Jordi Alba 8. Brilliant run and cutback for the opener to herald a livewire performance, offering more attacking threat than anyone other than Suarez.

Ivan Rakitic 6. Strong in the first half but was all over the place when Madrid took control early in the second period. Regained his composure near the end.

Sergio Busquets 7. One poor clearance led to Modric hitting the post, but otherwise he was clinically assured in possession and positionally disciplined.

Arthur 6. Had a curling shot well saved in the first half and looked smooth on the ball at first, but was overrun after the break and had to be replaced.

Rafinha 5. Deputised for Messi and came close to scoring with a left-footed curler, but was largely off the pace and replaced.

Luis Suarez 9. Won and converted the penalty for the second goal. Hit the post in the second half, then converted a brilliant header and a cool chip.

Philippe Coutinho 6. Comfortably slotted home the opener and was bright in the first half but faded badly after the break and was replaced by Dembele.

    SUBSTITUTES

Nelson Semedo 7. Came on at right back and performed with bite and determination, also getting forward when he could. Strong showing.

Ousmane Dembele 7. Played a part in the third goal with his very first touch. Also teed up Vidal’s goal with a brilliant run and cross.

Arturo Vidal 7. Came onto shore things up but did far more than that, charging forward to head home his first goal in Barca colours.
