  • Catalan media outlet Diario Sport has learned that Barcelona have completely ruled out letting go of Ousmane Dembele in January.

The Catalans signed the Frenchman from Borussia Dortmund for an initial €105m in the summer of 2017 and he hasn’t cemented his spot in the line-up yet.

Barcelona are said to be concerned about the fact that Dembele hasn’t proved his worth yet. But they do believe that the potential is huge and he’s showing signs of improvements. His performance as a substitute in the Clasico is a testimony to this.

The Frenchman’s attitude is believed to be the main reason behind the Catalan giants casting doubts over his future at the club. It is also believed that the 21-year-old has fallen out of favour with Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde.

However, Barcelona have decided to put more faith in Dembele and understand that it was a difficult, injury-ridden season for the Frenchman. Therefore, a move away from the Catalan side in January has been ruled out for Dembele.
