  • Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has been omitted from the latest Germany squad in order to receive treatment on a “recurring shoulder problem”.

Ter Stegen, 26, has started all 11 La Liga matches for the champions this season.

He will, however, need medical help during the imminent international break to be in the best shape for the challenges ahead. This means he was not named in the 24-man roster that will play Russia on November 15 and the Netherlands on November 19.

“Marc-Andre ter Stegen does not make the squad as he will use the international break to be treated on his recurring shoulder problem, which he had played through in the past weeks,” a statement from the DFB [German Football Association] read.

“Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich), Kevin Trapp (Eintracht Frankfurt and Bernd Leno (Arsenal) are the three keepers.”

Ter Stegen has won 21 caps for Germany.
