Ernesto Valverde has warned Barcelona against complacency after admitting to knowing little about their Champions League last-16 opponents Lyon.
The Catalan giants avoided Liverpool, Roma and Ajax in Monday’s draw but were set the challenge of a developing team that stormed through Group F unbeaten.
Valverde, who led his side comfortably through a group containing Tottenham and Inter, conceded his knowledge of the Ligue 1 outfit is limited, but his side need to be very wary.
“Lyon were fighting with City for top spot until the last game and they are a great side on the counter-attack,” he said.
“But we have to look at ourselves more from now on and although I haven’t seen too much of them, I have a general idea of the team and their players.
“The fact that they won away to City tells you how difficult any game in the Champions League is.
“We aren’t in a position to take anything for granted and have a month and a half to prepare for that tie.”
