  • La Liga champions Barcelona have planned a fresh scouting mission for striking target Luka Jovic next week when Serbia meet Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal, according to reports.

Jovic, 21, has emerged as a major option in the bid to procure a younger alternative to ageing Uruguay hit man Luis Suarez. The Catalans’ technical staff, led by director of football Eric Abidal, saw the Benfica-owned, Eintracht Frankfurt loanee score in the Europa League last week at Inter Milan.

Mundo Deportivo has stated that another visit has been scheduled for Monday, when Euro 2016 champions Portugal welcome the Serbians to Lisbon’s Estadio da Luz in Euro 2020 qualifying.

Jovic has struck 15 times in 24 Bundesliga matches this term. He also broke his international duck, at the fourth time of asking, on Wednesday when Serbia drew 1-1 with Germany in a friendly.

Frankfurt possess a right to buy – worth approximately €7 million – for this summer in their two-year loan agreement with Benfica. They are expected to demand up to €70m to sell him to suitors that also reportedly include Real Madrid and both Manchester clubs.
