  • Barcelona have signed teenage West Brom striker Louie Barry, the La Liga giants have announced.

The Birmingham-born 16-year-old, who has represented England at under-16s level, will go into the Catalan club’s U19s A squad.

A statement on the club’s official Twitter account said: “Louie Barry has joined FC Barcelona. The 16-year-old English striker, signed from West Bromwich Albion, will play for the Under-19s A team.”

West Brom are yet to confirm Barry’s departure.

The Baggies will receive £235,000 in compensation from the Spanish champions, according to Reuters.

The Spanish club say the forward “is considered one of the best young players in English football” and “has passed the relevant medical tests”.

Barry won the Golden Boot with three goals as he helped England Under-16s win Val-de-Marne, a UEFA tournament, last year.

He also scored two goals in four games as England U16s finished third at the Montaigu Tournament in France earlier this year.
