Antoine Griezmann will join Barcelona from Atletico Madrid after the Catalan club announced they had paid his €120 million buyout fee.

The 28-year-old France forward will sign a five-year contract that ties him to Nou Camp until June 30, 2024.

Griezmann’s contract with Barca will have a buyout clause of €800m, the Spanish champions added in a statement.

“With his arrival at FC Barcelona, the Frenchman takes another step forward in his career with the goal of consolidating his place as one of the best players in the world,” the Spanish league champions said.

Griezmann had announced in May he would be leaving Atletico Madrid after spending five seasons in the Spanish capital.

Barcelona have long been linked with a move for the 2018 World Cup winner.

Last month Atletico Madrid chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin revealed he had known about the impending transfer since March.

Griezmann moved to Atleti from Real Sociedad in 2014 and helped the club win the Europa League in 2018, scoring twice in the final against Marseille.

Barcelona have signed teenage West Brom striker Louie Barry, the La Liga giants have announced.

The Birmingham-born 16-year-old, who has represented England at under-16s level, will go into the Catalan club’s U19s A squad.

A statement on the club’s official Twitter account said: “Louie Barry has joined FC Barcelona. The 16-year-old English striker, signed from West Bromwich Albion, will play for the Under-19s A team.”

West Brom are yet to confirm Barry’s departure.

The Baggies will receive £235,000 in compensation from the Spanish champions, according to Reuters.

The Spanish club say the forward “is considered one of the best young players in English football” and “has passed the relevant medical tests”.

Barry won the Golden Boot with three goals as he helped England Under-16s win Val-de-Marne, a UEFA tournament, last year.

He also scored two goals in four games as England U16s finished third at the Montaigu Tournament in France earlier this year.

Malcom

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Barcelona attacker Malcom all summer but it appears they have strong competition within the Premier League from Everton.

With Barcelona working to a complete an ambitious, and costly, double swoop of Antoine Griezmann and Neymar, the Catalan giants will need to offload players in order to facilitate both moves.

One player widely anticipated to be leaving is Malcom and Everton are expected to offer €35 million for the winger, according to Spanish daily Sport, just a year on from Barca forking out €40m to Bordeaux.

Everton have a good relationship with the Spanish side having already acquired Andre Gomes, Lucas Digne and Yerry Mina over the last year.

But Arsenal remain in the hunt, although, any bid hinges on the Gunners’ ability to sign their top target, Crystal Palace talent Wilfried Zaha.

However, with Palace pricing Unai Emery’s outfit out of a move, they could soon switch their attention to Malcom.
