Philippe Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian has lashed out at Barcelona, accusing the club of working behind the back of the player in trying to get rid of him.
He claims that the Spanish giants addressed the Brazilian’s situation and made it clear that they want him to stay. The player and agent were hence saved the trouble of looking for another club.
Joorabchian has now accused Barcelona’s Brazil advisor Andre Cury of trying to include Coutinho in a potential Neymar deal despite mentioning no such thing in their meeting.
“I will not let people talk about Philippe and put him down because for one-and-a-half years we have said nothing,” he told the Telegraph . “I won’t let them do that and all of us in Philippe’s camp will not let that happen because Barcelona have told us he is staying.”
“The president [Bartomeu] was clear: he had no intention of selling the player, to any club,” Joorabchian also told RMC Sport.
“With that, and out of respect for Barcelona’s decision to keep him, we chose not to look at the market for our player and we have not offered the player to other clubs.
“But I learned, and it’s a fact, that Andre Cury is saying totally different things. Andre Cury is pushing for Coutinho to be included in the transfer for Neymar.
“As I said, Coutinho has no offer from any other clubs because we respected Barcelona’s decision, but they do not respect the word they gave to us.
“We have been silent in this period, but it will not be allowed for Barcelona to lie about the player. They must tell the truth.
“And if they want Coutinho to leave, they have to say it. With the player, we will decide what is best for his future.”
Antoine Griezmann has declared “I want to win it all” after joining Barcelona.
The Frenchman has targeted a trophy haul following his move to the Catalan club from Atletico Madrid.
Barca, who won the Spanish league title last season, lost the Copa del Rey final to Valencia and squandered a 3-0 lead following the first leg of their Champions League semi-final against Liverpool.
Griezmann wants to change that as he prepares for his first season at the Camp Nou.
“I want to win it all. La Liga, Copa del Rey, Champions League. They are both the club’s and my goals. I wish I can achieve it here,” said the 28-year-old.
Barcelona on Friday triggered the €120 million release clause to sign France international Antoine Griezmann from La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid.
Griezmann has signed a five-year contract at the club, which will run until June 20 2024.
The 28-year-old’s new deal comes with a release clause of €800 million.
After announcing the signing, the Catalans released the above video on their social media platforms with the caption “Life is all about second chances.”
It’s thought that the video could be an attempt to get the Barcelona fans on his side after his theatrics last summer when he released a documentary to announce his decision to stay at Atletico Madrid and angered Blaugrana supporters in the process.
