Barcelona have been left sweating after rampaging right-back Sergino Dest was injured on international duty.
Dest, 20, felt pain in his foot and was removed as a precautionary measure just before half time in Sunday’s 1-1 draw between the United States and Canada.
His employers will fear any serious problem after their options in this position were cut by the sale of Emerson Royal to Tottenham Hotspur. Sergi Roberto has also been impacted by a knock since August 29’s 2-1 victory against Getafe, leaving usual centre-back Oscar Mingueza as their only fully fit player head coach Ronald Koeman could turn to.
Barca’s next game is on September 14 when they kick off their 2021/22 Champions League group-stage commitments, against Bayern Munich.
