  • Cristiano Ronaldo has been at Real Madrid since 2009.

Real Madrid face Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash and Fernando Sanz believes they are favourites.

The former Madrid defender is confident that Cristiano Ronaldo will keep up his end-of-season form and guide Los Blancos past the German outfit.

“Everyone knows Cristiano Ronaldo. His physical condition even now at 33 years old, he’s still in amazing shape,” Sanz, the Director General for La Liga in the MENA region, told Sport360 at the du La Liga Champions final last week.

“The same as last season, at the end of it, he shows to everyone the quality, the concentration in the big games,” he added.

Sanz insists Madrid are favourites to win the tournament as they are every year.

“Real Madrid in the Champions League are always favourites. They’re the club that has won more Champions (Leagues) in history.

“The semi-finals you always play against a big club. Bayern Munich are a big club.

“But at the end of the day Real Madrid has nothing to do in La Liga and are just focused on the Champions League.”
