  • Ronaldo's hat-trick sent Juve through against Atletico last season.

Juventus are increasingly confident over Cristiano Ronaldo‘s fitness for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie against Ajax next Wednesday in Amsterdam.

Ronaldo suffered a thigh injury while on international duty with Portugal last month, and will not be part of the squad that faces AC Milan on Saturday.

However, speaking at Friday’s pre-match press conference, Juve manager Massimiliano Allegri put concerns over his star forward’s availability for next week to rest.

    “Ronaldo is better,” Allegri said.

“Five days from Amsterdam there are good signs, he is doing everything to be there and we hope to have him available but he won’t be included tomorrow in the squad to face Milan.”

The 34-year-old starred in Juventus’ previous Champions League fixture, as they overturned a 2-0 first-leg deficit for the first time in their history thanks to a 3-0 win over Atletico Madrid in which the former Real Madrid and Manchester United player scored a hat-trick.
