    Football fans are fiercely proud of their club’s history and it was therefore a brave move from Southampton to pull a prank on their fans on 1 April.

    The club doctored images of the club’s crest around their training facilities to include a smiley emoji in place of the football underneath their famous halo.

    After extensive research from fans we are delighted to announce a new crest,” Southampton Chief Executive Gareth Rogers announced to the Premier League club’s website. “When you see the new crest and the excitement it’s going to cause, it is really something the fans will pull behind.”

    Many Manchester United fans are calling for Louis van Gaal to be sacked and Rio Ferdinand thought he’d take full advantage of the situation.
