    STEVE MCKENLAY – EDITOR

    CHAMPIONS

Manchester City, just ahead of United. Pep Guardiola will bring a new discipline to a quality squad that could have done so much better last season. John Stones should solve the problem of vulnerability at centre-back.

WHO WILL MISS OUT ON THE TOP FOUR

Leicester City. Winning the title was a one-off and Man City, Man United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are in better shape.

    RELEGATED

Hull, Swansea and Middlesbrough. All three lack the quality and consistency to survive at this level. Burnley will struggle but should escape the drop because of their previous Premier League experience.

    SURPRISE PACKAGE

Everton. They have lost Stones to Man City but gained one of football’s best managers in Ronald Koeman who will get the best out of a squad of good players who seriously underperformed last season.

    PLAYER MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO

It has to be Paul Pogba at United – just to see how he handles the pressure of being the world’s most expensive player.

    JAMES PIERCY – DEPUTY EDITOR

    CHAMPIONS

ManchesterCity. Their squad was easily good enough to win the title last season and with Guardiola now instilling a hunger, proper tactical system and some exciting young talent, they should triumph.

WHO WILL MISS OUT ON THE TOP FOUR

Who will miss out on the top four: Tottenham. They’re still a very good side but management of a Champions League campaign may stretch a squad which hasn’t been improved upon as much as their rivals – apart from Arsenal, who may also miss out.

    RELEGATED

Hull, Burnley, Crystal Palace. The Tigers are without a manager, much of a first team and will surely be scrambling for players on deadline day; they are doomed. Burnley just lack the overall quality required while Palace’s form in the second-half of last season is concerning.

    SURPRISE PACKAGE

Liverpool. In the sense they will have a real crack at the top four. No Europe means Jurgen Klopp’s high-energy pressing game can last the pace.

    PLAYER MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO

John Stones. Given what Guardiola did with Gerard Pique, Javier Mascherano, David Alaba and Jerome Boateng, he could turn the Englishman into one of the league’s best defenders.

    ALEX REA – SUB-EDITOR

    CHAMPIONS

Manchester City. The most talented squad in the league under the guidance of one of the world’s best managers – a title-winning combination.

WHO WILL MISS OUT ON THE TOP FOUR

Arsenal. Their lack of significant investment, particularly a striker, means they are under immediate pressure. Would be relying on collapse of others for top four.

    RELEGATED

Swansea, Watford, Hull. No manager, lost their best player and just utter chaos, Hull are obvious candidates, Watford are an unknown and Swansea are relying on a 31-year-old Fernando Llorente.

    SURPRISE PACKAGE

Bournemouth. Eddie Howe has bought young players with a point to prove. Injuries crippled them last term and if they can remain fresh a Europa League spot is a shout.

    PLAYER MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO

Jordon Ibe. A consistent run in the starting XI will see him come of age. His direct and explosive style of wing play will electrify the Cherries.

    MATT MONAGHAN – REPORTER

    CHAMPIONS

Manchester City. Guardiola’s stardust should see City head off a determined challenge from the red half of Manchester. Only more injury woe for Sergio Aguero could deny them.

WHO WILL MISS OUT ON THE TOP FOUR

Arsenal. This year, surely, has to be the one in which the Gunners parsimony is finally punished. There is a chronic weakness at centre-back and centreforward.

    RELEGATE

Hull, Sunderland, Swansea. Hull are a disaster, David Moyes looks like a broken man and Swansea’s talent drain will see them doomed.

    SURPRISE PACKAGE

Stoke. The Potters have retained key players such as Marko Arnautovic, while French midfielder Giannelli Imbula looks set to explode into life.

    PLAYER MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO

Ahmed Musa. The Nigerian speedster looks a perfect fit for champions Leicester City. Pace and poise sent shudders through Barcelona during pre-season.

    MATHEW JONES – REPORTER

    CHAMPIONS

Chelsea. Led by a rejuvenated Eden Hazard, master tactician Antonio Conte worked wonders with Italy. Imagine what he can do with a talented Chelsea squad who will actually give a damn this season.

WHO WILL MISS OUT ON THE TOP FOUR

Arsenal. Blew a golden chance to win the league last year and haven’t invested anywhere near enough compared to their closest rivals, while Arsene Wenger’s stubbornness will continue to cost the Gunners.

    RELEGATED

Hull, Burnley, Palace. Hull are managerless and rudderless, Sean Dyche is a good man and manager but his Burnley team are limited. Palace and Alan Pardew have run their course.

    SURPRISE PACKAGE

Middlesbrough. Aitor Karanka is a fine manager who has invested wisely. Viktor Fischer could be the find of the season and I’m looking forward to seeing if Jordan Rhodes can cut it in the big time.

    PLAYER MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO

Henrikh Mkhitaryan. All the talk is of Pogba and Ibrahimovic but it is the Armenian who can really make United tick this season. Full of goals and assists (49 combined last season).

ALAM KHAN – PREMIER LEAGUE CORRESPONDENT

    CHAMPIONS

Manchester United. Paul Pogba is regarded as the final piece of the team jigsaw, while Jose Mourinho will prioritise the league and knows what’s required.

WHO WILL MISS OUT ON THE TOP FOUR

Arsenal. Still lacking in key areas compared to their rivals. Will struggle to make it 20 successive seasons of Champions League football.

    RELEGATED

West Brom, Burnley, Hull. Hard to look beyond all three promoted sides, but West Brom also face fight to survive.

    SURPRISE PACKAGE

West Ham. An Olympics home and the princely Dimitri Payet could inspire them to strike gold.

    PLAYER MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO

Leroy Sane cost City big money and comes with an even bigger reputation after exciting at Schalke. Intrigued to see if he can live up to the hype.

MARK LOMAS – ONLINE MANAGING EDITOR

    CHAMPIONS

Manchester City. Guardiola has the golden touch and while his squad might not yet be exactly what he wanted, two men could be enough to hand him the title: Kevin De Bruyne and Aguero.

WHO WILL MISS OUT ON THE TOP FOUR

Tottenham. Last season’s failed title tilt may hurt even more come the end of 2016-17. Spurs have not exactly stood still, but the teams around them have improved so much in terms of both playing and coaching personnel.

    RELEGATED

Hull, Burnley, Sunderland. A chairman unwilling to invest any money makes Hull an extremely unattractive proposition for any potential boss.

    SURPRISE PACKAGE

Middlesbrough. Aitor Karanka is proving a big draw and Boro have made some exciting signings in Negredo and Fischer.

    PLAYER MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO

Ibrahimovic. Charismatic, entertaining, Zlatan is one of football’s great talents and characters. A born winner, his presence on and off the pitch will be a major boon for United.

    STUART APPLEBY – SPORT360.COM

    CHAMPIONS

Chelsea. Antonio Conte is a great fit and will get the best out of last season’s under-performing stars. Michy Batshuayi and N’Golo Kante are also smart signings and bolster two key areas in the side.

WHO WILL MISS OUT ON THE TOP FOUR

Arsenal. Past seasons obviously show the Gunners always finish in the top four under Arsene Wenger but Arsenal haven’t sufficiently strengthened and this season will be overtaken in what will likely be the Frenchman’s swansong.

    RELEGATED

Hull, Sunderland, Burnley. Hull’s turbulent managerial situation has distinguished any momentum they had. The lack of ambition David Moyes showed in his first press conference showed it will be another desperate season of struggle for the Black Cats. They’ll be plenty of endeavor and fight at Burnley but they’ll find it hard to score goals and pick up points away from home.

    SURPRISE PACKAGE

Bournemouth Eddie Howe can establish the Cherries as a top-10 side and his clever acquisitions in the transfer market and willingness to build for the future will see the club march up the table.

    PLAYER MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO

Vincent Janssen The young Dutch prodigy has the ability to be a real hit in the Premier League and should enjoy playing alongside Harry Kane.
