  • Great Start: Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The 2016/17 Premier League season is up and running and Sport360 looks at the best performers who excelled in the opening week.

Here are the top five players from the first round of fixtures as voted by you using valorafutbol.com‘s ranking system.

    1) ERIC BAILLY – MANCHESTER UNITED

Eric Bailly complimented Daley Blind to great effect in Manchester United’s back-line. He was a tad reckless with a couple of challenges but impressive overall, making two interceptions, three tackles and seven clearances.

    2) CURTIS DAVIES – HULL CITY

Curtis Davies had his work cut out for him as a vulnerable Hull City side faced the champions. Leicester City’s attacking line of Ahmed Musa, Jamie Vardy, Demarai Gray and Riyad Mahrez did cause several problems but they were largely dealt with by the centre-back.

    3) ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC – MANCHESTER UNITED

The big Swede made it two goals in his first two games with his new club. He did well to set up Wayne Rooney a couple of times and got plenty of good touches in the game. A sweetly struck free-kick was palmed away but Ibrahimovic got his goal with the strike from distance that nestled into the bottom corner.

    4) MORGAN SCHNEIDERLIN – MANCHESTER UNITED

Morgan Schneiderlin’s inclusion in this list is more than a little surprising. The midfielder didn’t even start the game and was only introduced in the last five minutes to protect the result. Puzzling.

    5) ROBERT SNODGRASS – HULL CITY

Robert Snodgrass’ goal proved to be the winner against Leicester. The ball fell to him just inside the area on the back of a good move and his left-footed drilled effort left Kasper Schmeichel with no chance. Snodgrass had a fine game with his deliveries into the box being spot on all afternoon.
