Following the first international break of the season, managers have had plenty of time to mull over their squad selection.

Sergio Aguero’s three-game suspension has left managers with £13m burning a hole in their pockets which, here, we lay out how you should reinvest that money wisely.

But first, a shout out to these tactical geniuses who top our Sport360 fans league going into this week.

THE STRIKERS TO REPLACE SERGIO AGUERO

It would be a colossal waste to have the most expensive player in the game warm the bench for the next three weeks. Aguero needs to go and it’s important to buy the right replacement.

For those who don’t have Zlatan Ibrahimovic in their team, recruiting the Swede in place of the Argentine would be a straightforward swap.

Ibrahimovic only managed two points against Hull City but has constantly been at the heart of Manchester United’s attacks and will score handsomely over the course of the season.

The Manchester derby this weekend is just the kind of stage the striker loves to grace with a stellar showing, while Watford away and Leicester City at home are his next two outings.

Like it or not, Wayne Rooney represents a fantastic option as well. Despite his unconvincing displays, his more advanced role this season has seen him getting into better positions and Rooney has registered either a goal or assist in all three fixtures so far. Buying the Englishman would also see you retain £4m from Aguero’s fee.

With last season’s standout strikers yet to come good, the smart move would be to go for value upfront and invest much of the Aguero money in midfield.

Alvaro Negredo (£6.9m) has emerged as a great budget buy while Jermaine Defoe (£7.2m) can’t help but get on the scoresheet. Another one to keep an eye on is Christian Benteke (£7.4m) following his move to Crystal Palace from Liverpool.

    BOOST YOUR MIDFIELD

One way to go is to put faith in one of last season’s best players; Dimitri Payet (£9.4m). The Frenchman hasn’t made his mark on the new campaign yet but having regained his fitness over the international break, could be ready to crank it up again.

West Ham United have patiently awaited his return and Slaven Bilic has hinted that the midfield maestro could be ready to start for the Premier League outfit.

Furthermore, the Hammers have a host of relatively comfortable fixtures headed their way before facing Tottenham, United, Arsenal and Liverpool on the trot eight games down the line.

One superstar who’s been threatening to rediscover his best form under Antonio Conte is Eden Hazard (£10.2m). The Belgian has been on the up since the end of last season and is the highest scoring midfielder this time around.

Second on that list is Raheem Sterling (£8.1m) who has been afforded a lot more freedom under Pep Guardiola.

If you’re looking to replace Aguero with another Manchester City player then look no further than the Englishman who represents a far greater goal threat than the likes of David Silva and is significantly more affordable.
