  • Heading to Old Trafford: Lukaku.

We have shown already this season that we are strong enough to beat Arsenal, winning 2-1 at Goodison Park in December to prevent the Gunners from going top of the Premier League.

The Emirates is a difficult stadium for any visiting team. They are still playing to get in the Champions League which makes it tough for us, but we need to be focused on finishing the season strongly with a good positive result to end a season that has been good for Everton overall.

We made a good start to the campaign before going through a difficult period in the middle and then making a really strong start to 2017, with eight successive wins at home, our best run at Goodison in the Premier League era. We played good football and scored a lot of goals during that period. Overall, we met our challenge for the season which was to qualify for Europe and it is satisfying to have achieved this goal.

Away from home, we have had problems creating chances to score goals. We do need more goals from different players in our offensive part of the team and this is something we will address in the summer ahead of next season.

For every manager, the summer is the same and mine will be no different. Yes, I will take time to get away with my family and enjoy some sunshine, I hope.

But I will have my mobile phone with me constantly as we will be trying to do the business that can take Everton to the next step next season. If I need to get on a plane to go somewhere to discuss our business further, I will do so, of course. Recharging the batteries will be important, but so is the business you try to do as a club, especially as we want to continue to make the team stronger and strive closer towards our ultimate goals.

There will be the increased amount of games to consider as well for next season due to our involvement in the Europa League. For this, of course, we need to add to the squad in terms of numbers. But we will not bring any player in just for the sake of bringing players in.

They will have to add to what we have in terms of quality, for quality – not quantity – will be our aim.

But this is for next season and we still have one more game to play, a big game against a big club and this will require our complete focus. Arsenal have been a Champions League team for the past two decades. They have some great individual players and they have big expectations. Always you try to finish a season in style and, for us, this will be important, too. We have moved forward as a team, as a club this season. It will be nice to secure a win on the final day and we will be motivated to achieve this.
