A Liverpool fan has become so enamoured by new signing Mohamed Salah that he claims the Egyptian will “turn me Muslim”.

The fan, Carson Coffied, tweeted his appreciation for Salah after the Egyptian’s goal against Bayern Munich last week in a preseason friendly.

Salah followed his goal by performing the ‘sujood’ (prayer to God), his usual celebration.

The tweet has received a lot of attention since Coffied posted it, with many fans thanking him for his message.

One tweeter explained why Coffied’s post became so popular.

Coffield’s tweet made the news in Egypt, Salah’s home country, where major media outlets picked up the story of the Liverpool die-hard.

Al Jazeera, Goal.com and acclaimed talk show host Amr Adib were among those who featured Coffield’s tweet in their coverage.

Salah and Liverpool play their opening match of the season on Saturday, away to Watford.
