New signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain made his debut for Liverpool but it was a day to forget for the England international as his side lost 5-0 to top-four rivals Manchester City.

Here’s a look at how he did after coming on as a half-time substitute with the team already losing 2-0 and down to 10 men after Sadio Mane’s dismissal.

    ROLE

Part of the reason Oxlade-Chamberlain moved to Anfield from Arsenal was to get more game time in his preferred central midfield position. He was given that opportunity from the off after coming on for the second half, but with Liverpool already under the cosh and chasing the game it was something of a chastening experience.

    INFLUENCE

City’s midfield was already in full control before his arrival so it was asking a lot for the 24-year-old to make an instant impact on the back of two training sessions with his new team-mates.

    THREAT

Had one run down the left which came to nothing but spent most of his time trying to cover ground as Liverpool battled with their numerical disadvantage.
