  • The last round of fixtures before the international break was one to savour, with dramatic action affecting both ends of the Premier League table.

Manchester City’s draw with Liverpool and Chelsea’s convincing victory over Southampton mean all three sides are level on 20 points, with Arsenal and Tottenham also picking up three points to remain within touching distance.

Manchester United’s stunning comeback from two goals down against Newcastle to win 3-2 lifted them into eighth place behind Wolves and Bournemouth, who picked up victories over Crystal Palace and Watford respectively.

In a bottom-half clash, Brighton narrowly overcame West Ham to give themselves some breathing space at the bottom, whilst Huddersfield, Newcastle and Cardiff are still searching for their first win of the league campaign.

So, who caught the eye and who had a match to forget? Here are our winners and losers.

    Winners

    • Alexis Sanchez – Manchester United

Manchester United made a dreadful start to see themselves two goals behind against Newcastle inside ten minutes, but an incredible second-half performance saw the Red Devils pick up the three points.

Sanchez came off the bench and immediately made an impact as the Magpies could not handle the Chilean’s intensity and energy.

His powerful late header from Ashley Young’s cross nestled into the top corner, sending the home fans wild. This was an impressive cameo from Sanchez, who has been the subject of much criticism since moving to Old Trafford last January.

United fans are starting to see the best of Alexis Sanchez.

    • Callum Wilson – Bournemouth

Wilson and Josh King have formed one of the deadliest strike partnerships in the top flight and this was proven as they annihilated Watford. Wilson’s pace, trickery and finishing ability wowed the crowd at Vicarage Road.

Wilson found the net and provided an assist, taking his total goal tally in the league this season to three.

With Wilson playing with such confidence, it could only be a matter of time before he gets a call-up from England manager Gareth Southgate.

    • Arsenal

The Gunners arguably scored the goal of the season in the 5-1 win over Fulham as Aaron Ramsey nonchalantly flicked the ball into the far corner, whilst Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored two each.

It was the perfect weekend for the north London side, who extended their winning run to nine matches in all competitions to move two points away from the top of the table.

The rest of the league should be worried about the lethal partnership between Lacazette and Aubameyang, who are playing with immense confidence.

    • Christian Kabasele – Watford

The 27-year-old defender simply could not handle the fluidity of the Bournemouth attackers and saw himself sent-off just after the half-hour mark.

He picked up his second yellow for bringing down King inside the penalty area and after that, the Hornets were blown away.

Watford are now without a win in four consecutive league games and after making a strong start, they are worryingly beginning to slide down the table.

    • Wes Morgan – Leicester City

Morgan makes his second appearance of the season on the losers list and for the same reason as before – a red card.

The centre-back was consistently clumsy against Everton and picked up two yellow cards as the Foxes fell to a 2-1 defeat against Marco Silva’s men at the King Power Stadium. Yet another suspension for the Leicester captain.

    • Crystal Palace

More wasteful finishing from Palace against Wolves means that they are yet to score a goal at Selhurst Park in the league this season.

Roy Hodgson’s side are beginning to worry their fans and only have one win from their last seven league games.

Things are only going to get tougher for Palace, who face Everton, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United in their next league fixtures. The Eagles should be braced for a messy relegation battle this year.
