After a testing Gameweek 9, round 10 of Fantasy Premier League this season proved to be far more fruitful.

With an average score of 58, there was a spattering of good big hauls across the game, particularly for owners of Liverpool, Burnley and Chelsea assets.

The Blues enjoy a favourable fixture again as they host Crystal Palace at the Bridge on Sunday when Manchester City should claim a comfortable win over Southampton at the Etihad.

Here are a few tips ahead of Gameweek 11.

    CAPTAIN – SERGIO AGUERO | MANCHESTER CITY | 11.3M

Mohamed Salah was our captain pick last week and he came through in a big way. The Egyptian played up front in Liverpool’s 4-1 victory over Cardiff City at Anfield and scored a total of 15 points, doubling to 30.

However, with Sergio Aguero returning to home comforts this weekend, he almost commands the armband against Southampton and with good reason.

The Argentine has been sensational at the Etihad this season, delivering attacking returns in every league outing on home turf so far this season.

In five home games, Aguero has registered five goals and four assists. He was rested for the midweek League Cup clash with Fulham as well so is a nailed-on starter.

He is a pretty safe bet in terms of the captaincy but if there is one concern, it’s Pep Guardiola’s tendency to preserve him, usually replacing him soon after the hour mark.

Even though he didn’t face Fulham, City have a Champions League fixture in midweek before playing the Manchester derby next weekend. However, Aguero has shown so far that he only needs about an hour to do some damage anyway.

    ALTERNATIVES

MOHAMED SALAH (13.0m) bagged a goal and two assists last week but what was especially pleasing was his two bonus points as well. Playing through the middle as a false nine, the Liverpool forward has been more involved. He faces Arsenal away on Sunday but given the Gunners’ high defensive line, should still be able to deliver some attacking returns.

BENJAMIN MENDY (6.4m) didn’t play in midweek either so should be fresh for Southampton’s visit. The Saints barely pose an attacking threat away from home, failing to score in their last three away fixtures. Mendy should comfortably pick up a clean sheet and if he manages even one assist, which is likely, he will be set for a big haul.

    BOLD CHOICE

JAMES MADDISON (7.0m) owners can feel a bit aggrieved by his blanks over the last three GWs. The midfielder consistently creates goal-scoring chances, particularly from set-pieces. Against West Ham, two of his deadball deliveries should’ve resulted in assists. Cardiff allow less big chances than only Fulham in the league so he could easily grab a couple of assists this time.

    TWO TO WATCH

    ROSS BARKLEY  | CHELSEA | 5.9M

It may feel like jumping on the bandwagon but Ross Barkley’s form at the moment can’t be ignored. In the last three GWs, the midfielder has managed three goals, three assists, two clean sheets and five bonus points. At only 5.9m, he’s great value as a top-three side asset. He enjoys three home games in the next four GWs.

    ISAAC SUCCESS | WATFORD | 4.5M

Having scored last week, Isaac Success has showed up on the FPL radar. It was only his first goal this season and he’s unlikely to start once the likes of Troy Deeney and Andre Gray return. However, at 4.5m, he’s more a means to an end. He allows you to downgrade your third striker and allow for two premium ones or even get that extra premium midfielder or defender that you haven’t managed to bring in so far. He’s also played some part in every game this season, so he’s likely to fetch at least a point should he come off your bench.

    TWO TO AVOID

    RYAN FRASER | BOURNEMOUTH | 6.1M

It’s not often that moving on a midfielder who bagged 11 points in the previous GW is advisable but it certainly is here. Ryan Fraser’s underlying stats during the weeks prior to the Fulham game weren’t encouraging. Bournemouth’s fixtures are turning as well as they face Manchester United, Arsenal, City and Liverpool in their next six games. Barkley’s emergence as well means Fraser is more than dispensable.

    JOSE HOLEBAS | WATFORD | 4.8M

Over 13 per cent of FPL managers own Jose Holebas and they should be very concerned. With four assists this season, only Mendy (5) has managed more among defenders this season. However, reports suggest that the left-back has lost his place in Watford’s XI. If remains absent from the starting line-up, he’ll need to be moved on despite Watford’s good fixtures.
