  • Eden Hazard was in the mood but his colleagues seemingly weren’t as Chelsea fell flat in a scoreless draw against Everton.

Marcos Alonso hit the post and there were a handful of narrow misses, but a dogged Everton kept their hosts nullified for the most part.

It means Chelsea slightly slip off the pace in the Premier League title race – they will end the weekend in third. Here’s our full player ratings below:

    CHELSEA (4-3-3)

Kepa Arrizabalaga – Did absolutely nothing with his hands but was impressive with his feet, completing all of his 27 passes. 6

Cesar Azpilicueta – Struggled all day when Richarlison pulled out wide, and doubly so with the introduction of Ademola Lookman. He doesn’t offer enough the other way at present, either – time to expand Emerson’s role? 5

David Luiz – A few heart-in-mouth moments at the back – to be expected – but tried to force the issue with some testing long passes in the second half, and put some of his team-mates farther up the pitch to shame. 7

Antonio Rudiger – Used his size and speed to negate an often isolated Richarlison, but could easily have give up a penalty after his outstretched arm met a corner. 6

Marcos Alonso – The Luiz-Alonso channel will always be vulnerable, but the pair just about make up for it on the front foot. The Spaniard went close with a free-kick before seeing a shot thud off the post. 7

N’Golo Kante – Looks less and less like the new-age No8 that Antonio Conte and now Maurizio Sarri envision him to be. Rarely offers a penetrating pass and that’s a problem when the opposition is sitting back. 5

Jorginho – It’s a rare sight when the Italian gives the ball away. It’s also a rare sight when he gives his team-mate the ball in a promising position. Chelsea were too predictable against Everton, and Jorginho was part of the problem. 6

Mateo Kovacic – Chelsea fans may have been baying for Ross Barkley as the game wore on, yet there could be few knocks on Kovacic. The former Real Madrid man linked up well with Hazard and was by far the most troublesome of Chelsea’s midfield trio. 7

Willian – With Kante and Azpilicueta operating near his sectors of the pitch, there was very little for Willian to feed off on the right. Still, the one clear chance presented saw him fire (narrowly wide) instead of teeing up Morata. 6

Alvaro Morata – Spends most of his time worrying about drawing fouls then actually putting possession of the ball to good use. Chirps away like Diego Costa, has exactly none of the menace. 4

Eden Hazard – The Belgian is barely past half-fit but Sarri dared not take him off when he was operating on such a clearly different plane to his colleagues. Made five key passes, completed three dribbles, was fouled three times – only a late chance that should have found the target can really detract from his performance. 8

    SUBSTITUTES

Cesc Fabregas – Replaced Jorginho shortly after the hour mark and though his job was to supply more invention, was off-kilter with his passing. 5

Pedro – Drifted into the centre in search of the ball as opposed to Willian, and found about the same amount of joy. 5

Ross Barkley – Should arguably have been brought on earlier to try and open some doors, not enough time to make the required impact. N/A
