  • Manchester United continued their impressive record under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after they edged out Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. However, the fans were treated to a pallid performance and the 1-0 score-line aptly describes the tale.

Marcus Rashford scored the opener within 10 minutes after he latched onto a pin-point pass from Paul Pogba and buried it after a great first-touch.

We take a look at how the players performed in the lacklustre performance.

DAVID DE GEA 6/10: Was not tested often. But when he was, the Spaniard did well to ward off any danger and ensured that he kept a clean sheet.

ASHLEY YOUNG 5/10: Tried to create problems on the right side, but failed to provide anything productive to the attack. Average performance in defence.

ERIC BAILLY 5/10: The backline was rarely troubled and Bailly deserves credit for a clean sheet. However, he was shabby with his passing.

VICTOR LINDELOF 6/10: Again, rarely tested, but dealt well with any threat that came his way. Encouraging performance from the youngster.

LUKE SHAW 5/10: The youngster has improved a lot under Solskjaer, but this was a sub-par performance. Should have got an early assist, however, but Rashford headed off target. Also committed a silly foul and got himself a yellow card.

PAUL POGBA 6/10: Provided a wonderful assist to Rashford and controlled the game well for the first 20 minutes. Nothing great from the Frenchman in the remaining 70 minutes.

ANDER HERRERA 7/10: United’s best player on the pitch. Made some crucial interceptions and ensured that there was at least some balance in the midfield towards the end of the game.

NEMANJA MATIC 5/10: Very shabby with his touches and passes, an average performance from the Serbian. Definitely far from his best.

MARCUS RASHFORD 6/10: Missed a sitter very early on in the game, but compensated by scoring the goal that fetched United all three points.

ALEXIS SANCHEZ 6/10: There were a couple of moments of brilliance from the Chilean, but he is still far off from how he used to perform for Arsenal. Needs to improve on his decision making.

JESSE LINGARD 6/10: Nothing special from the England international. Looked lost throughout the game, barely involved in anything threatening.

    SUBSTITUTES

ANTHONY MARTIAL 6/10: No goals and assists to show for, but the Frenchman displayed glimpses of magic on the touchline at times in the 25 minutes of playing-time he was handed.

ROMELU LUKAKU N/A: Played for 10 minutes, not sufficient to assess his performance.

PHIL JONES N/A: Injury time substitute. Can’t be assessed.
