Just two days after the previous round of fixtures, the Premier League was back again with more drama and entertainment.
Manchester City’s impressive 3-1 victory at Etihad Stadium over Arsenal took them two points behind leaders Liverpool, who could only pick up a draw against West Ham on Monday night, meaning Jurgen Klopp’s side hold a slender three-point lead at the top of the table. Vitally, the Blues play their game in hand at Everton on Wednesday.
Tottenham’s 1-0 victory over Newcastle takes them two points behind City, while victories for Chelsea and Manchester United over Huddersfield and Leicester respectively keep the race for the top four alive.
In-form Wolves picked up another three points as they blew Everton away at Goodison Park, taking then nine points behind sixth placed Arsenal.
Brighton’s 0-0 draw with Watford puts them in 13th place, five points behind West Ham, who are in 12th. Crystal Palace’s home win over Fulham takes them four points away from the relegation zone.
Burnley’s last-gasp equaliser against Southampton keeps both sides on 24 points, with 18th-placed Cardiff only two points behind them after a morale-boosting home win over Bournemouth.
Huddersfield remain rock bottom and are currently 13 points away from safety. Who stood out this weekend and who couldn’t handle the pressure?
WINNERS
Gonzalo Higuain – Chelsea
The Argentine netted his first goals for the London club in what was an encouraging performance from Maurizio Sarri’s side.
Higuain’s clever movement and clinical finish in the 16th minute opened the floodgates for the Blues, with the striker linking very well with Eden Hazard throughout the match.
His second was a sensational long-range strike, leaving Jonas Losl with no chance in the 69th minute. This was the perfect match for him ahead of Chelsea’s next league clash with City.

Bobby Reid – Cardiff City
Birthday boy Bobby Reid celebrated his big day in the perfect manner by netting a crucial brace for the Bluebirds.
After his early opener, the forward paid an emotional tribute to Emiliano Sala by holding up a shirt with his image on it.
He started the second half in similarly quick fashion, finding the net 15 seconds after the restart to give Cardiff a massive three points in the battle for survival.
A special moment for Cardiff...

Sergio Aguero – Manchester City
Sergio Aguero netted his 14th hat-trick for Manchester City – 10th in the league – as the champions blew away Arsenal.
The striker scored inside a minute for the second match in a row and grabbed his second just before the break as Arsenal simply could not handle his pace and movement.
His third was controversial, with the ball appearing to bounce off his arm and past the line. Aguero always shows up in the big games for City, who have the chance to go top of the table on Wednesday.

LOSERS
Martin Dubravka – Newcastle United
The goalkeeper has won the Magpies several points already this season, but his error cost them dearly at Wembley.
Son Heung-min’s long-range strike looked like a routine save for Dubravka, but a loss of concentration from the shot-stopper saw the ball go straight through him and into the net.
An uncharacteristic error from Dubravka, who will be keen to bounce back with a clean sheet.
Howler from Dubravka, no doubt about that a costly mistake but two errors in a entire year since joining the club is next to nothing. We’ve won way more points thanks to him than lost because of him. #NUFC

Fulham
After an incredible 4-2 win over Brighton, Fulham visited Selhurst Park seeking another positive result.
However, Claudio Ranieri’s side were poor and inconsistency in performances like this will be worrying as the battle to avoid relegation intensifies.

Everton
The Toffees were simply torn apart by Wolves and the pressure is heavily on manager Marco Silva.
Everton look toothless in attack and shaky in defence, a combination which is asking for trouble.
The Merseyside club currently sit in ninth place and can do rivals Liverpool a huge favour on Wednesday against City.
