  • Arsenal target Kieran Tierney earned words of praise from arguably the best defender in the Premier League.

The Celtic full-back has been linked to a €25 million move to London club Arsenal and Virgil van Dijk believes that Tierney has it in him to make it big in the Premier League.

The pair shared a dressing room for a brief period at Celtic and the Dutchman recalled that he was impressed by Tierney’s performance on his debut.

“It is not an easy step to make and you have to play well to do it. But Kieran has the qualities,’ said Van Dijk according to the Daily Record.

“Kieran made his debut against Dundee when I was at Celtic. I scored a free-kick up there and then he came on and helped us get the win,” said Van Dijk.

Liverpool full-back also Andrew Robertson rated his Scottish team-mate’s versatility, having flourished in his four full seasons with Celtic.

“I’ve played with Kieran Tierney for Scotland and he’s played right-back and centre-back. I’ve watched him and he’s a very good footballer,” said Robertson of the 22-year-old.
