Manchester City made a big splash in Fantasy Premier League last week as several of their players scored heavily during their 8-0 mauling of Watford.

The Premier League champions dominated Gameweek 6 with Bernardo Silva even bagging a hat-trick, but the big news was Raheem Sterling being left on the bench.

This weekend, Chelsea and Tottenham host Brighton and Southampton respectively while Liverpool travel to Sheffield United and City face Everton away.

The big match of the weekend sees Manchester United host Arsenal at Old Trafford.

Here are a few tips to help guide you through GW7.

    CAPTAIN – SON HEUNG-MIN | TOTTENHAM | 9.6M

Anyone who owns Harry Kane – and that’s over 20 per cent of FPL managers – should be considering a move to Son Heung-min instead. The England skipper is an exceptional striker but in FPL terms, the simple fact is that Son represents greater value.

The South Korean is listed as a midfielder but plays as a striker and is in fact deployed in a more advanced position than Kane. It’s worth downgrading the 11m Spurs man to a more affordable yet equally efficient striker like Teemu Pukki (7.1m), Tammy Abraham (7.4m) or Callum Wilson (7.8m).

That should free up money to recruit Son and once you do, he should be a prime candidate for the armband this GW. The 27-year-old is in great form, bagging 26 points from the last three games.

Despite missing the first two GWs of the season through suspension, his tally of 10 shots inside the area is just three shy of Kane’s attempts. With Southampton to play at home this weekend, the smart money is on Son.

    ALTERNATIVES

SERGIO AGUERO (12.2m) is as sharp as ever and nailed on to start in the league for now. With eight goals so far, he leads the way as top scorer and his underlying stats suggest more goals are on the horizon. A whopping 19 of his 25 shots have come from inside the box and is more than anyone else has managed. City can’t afford to slip up away to Everton and will be banking on their leading man to deliver the goods.

MOHAMED SALAH (12.5m) has been chipping away of late without really standing out. Having blanked just once this season, his consistency is reassuring. Unlike Sadio Mane – who is an injury doubt – though, he has a history of delivering big even on away trips.

    BOLD CHOICE

TAMMY ABRAHAM (7.4m) is proving to be a significant goal threat with 16 shots in the area this season. Chelsea host Brighton and following their pulsating performance against Liverpool, they’ll back themselves to score a few past the Seagulls.

    Ashley Barnes

    ONE TO GET

    JAMES MADDISON | LEICESTER CITY | 7.1M

After a fine strike against Tottenham, James Maddison is the one to get in midfield. The Englishman has consistently threatened with a flurry of shots this season, recording 20 so far, just five short of Aguero who leads the way. Leicester host Newcastle United this week who have just one win so far and are a bit hit and miss defensively. Maddison also has two assists to his name from 11 key passes this season and remains one of Leicester’s most potent threats.

    ONE TO AVOID

    OLEKSANDR ZINCHENKO | MANCHESTER CITY | 5.5M

Benjamin Mendy is back. For how long remains to be seen but while the Frenchman is in play, it’s bad news for Oleksandr Zinchenko. Mendy brings a whole new attacking dynamic to City’s play that Pep Guardiola can’t resist. Even if he does get minutes, it’s a waste of a precious City slot if you aren’t using it for a player who generates attacking returns as well.

    BARGAIN BUY

    FIKAYO TOMORI | CHELSEA | 4.5M

Fikayo Tomori is a slightly controversial pick given Chelsea are yet to keep a clean sheet this season. However, a home game against Brighton is a great opportunity to break that duck. The Seagulls have one of the more underwhelming attacks in the league, scoring just two goals in their last five games, failing to hit the back of the net in three of those outings.

Meanwhile, Tomori is establishing himself as a starter for Chelsea, playing the full 90 minutes in the last three GWs, bagging a goal in that time, and he is bound to keep his place with Christensen and Rudiger doubts for the weekend. At an ownership of just 1.2 per cent, he’s a great differential. Not to mention a real bargain at 4.5m.
