  • Manchester City made light work of Arsenal as they cruised to a 3-0 win at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Kevin De Bruyne scored a fine brace and dictated the game for the Premier League champions and even teed up Raheem Sterling for City’s other goal which condemned Arsenal to another embarrassing home defeat.

Here, we rate the players from both sides.

    ARSENAL XI (4-3-3-1)

Leno 5 – Not much he could do for the goals. Actually made a sensational save to deny De Bruyne a hat-trick.

Maitland-Niles 5 – One of the better defenders for Arsenal and even looked good going forward at times.

Chambers 4 – Lost the ball in dangerous areas a couple of times. Made some brave blocks though.

Sokratis 4 – At the heart of an increasingly stretched defence. Not the leader they need in there.

Kolasinac 4 – Made zero defensive contributions during his 39 minutes of play. Had to go off injured.

Guendouzi 5 – Was one of the better players for his side. Tracked back well at times but always outnumbered in midfield.

Torreira 5 – Goplayedod energy and tenacity. Even Martinelli through on goal early. But bypassed often by City.

Pepe 4 – A couple of fanciful flicks were meaningless as Pepe never managed to do anything of worth.

Ozil 3 – Ljungberg has thrown him a lifeline but lifeless performances like this one renders him a liability.

Martinelli 6 – Always looked sharp and had City defenders back-pedalling. Starved of service but could’ve scored early on.

Aubameyang 5 – Didn’t have much to work with and his 20 touches were the least by any starter from both sides.

    SUBS

Saka (39′) 5 – A solid performance from the youngster playing out of position.

Smith Rowe (59′) 5 – Looked better than Ozil but didn’t have enough to unlock City’s defence.

Willock (81′) N/A – Wasn’t on the pitch long enough to make an impact.

    MAN CITY XI (4-2-3-1)

Ederson 6 – Made a top save to deny Martinelli early on but had a pretty quiet outing otherwise.

Walker 6 – A quiet game from the full-back who kept things tight and was in no hurry to advance in possession.

Otamendi 5 – Looked beaten for pace all day long but cleared his lines well while Arsenal didn’t test him enough.

Fernandinho 6 – The aging makeshift centre-back held his own and even made some good interceptions.

Mendy 5 – Did well against Nicolas Pepe but still not back to his best. Not the same force going forward.

Gundogan 6 – Good on the ball and went about his business quietly, keeping things neat and tidy bar one cynical foul.

Rodri 6 – Was too slow in a few challenges and fouled four times. Recycled possession well though.

Foden 7 – Showed some clever touches and passes during the first half. Will even claim the assist for De Bruyne’s second.

De Bruyne 9 – At his devastating best, punishing Arsenal in the transition. Scored a stunning brace and grabbed an assist.

Sterling 7 – Slotted home form De Bruyne’s pass and had a couple more chances. Threat on the break.

Jesus 7 – Good cut-back for the opener but was denied by the keeper in the second half. Lead the line well.

    SUBS

    B. Silva (55′) 5 – Kept things tidy in midfield after replacing Foden.

Mahrez (70′) 6 – Could’ve got on the score sheet late on but was denied by Leno.

Zinchenko (85′) N/A – Barely involved after a late introduction
