Gameweek 26 was the longest in Fantasy Premier League history, spanning over nearly two weeks, but now that it’s finally done, we can look ahead to the 27th round of the season.

The big team news comes from Tottenham where Son Heung-min, after a 13-point haul at Aston Villa, could be out for the rest of the Premier League campaign. In this column we’ll discuss a potential replacement among other picks.

Spurs travel to Chelsea in GW27 while Manchester City visit Leicester City. Arsenal host Everton while Manchester United and Liverpool have inviting home games against Watford and West Ham respectively.

Here are a few tips to help guide you through GW27 while keeping an eye on GW28 where Arsenal, City, Sheffield United and Villa blank.

    CAPTAIN – DANNY INGS | SOUTHAMPTON | 7.1M

Danny Ings ended his three-gameweek ‘drought’ with a goal at home to Burnley and should be looking to add to his tally of 15 so far this season when Villa visit St. Mary’s.

No team has conceded more than the 14 goals or 26 big chances Villa have in the last six GWs. Ings has taken 17 shots and scored three times in the same period.

It’s also worth noting that Villa concede twice as many chances when Tyrone Mings doesn’t play. With the centre-back a doubt for the fixture while he recovers from tonsillitis, Ings could have a field day.

    ALTERNATIVES

MOHAMED SALAH (12.8m) blanked for only the second time in seven games away to Norwich in GW26 but still registered four shots and two key passes in the encounter. He faces a poor West Ham defence at Anfield this time.

RAUL JIMENEZ (7.8m) takes on Norwich at home and will aim to get back on the score sheet after blanking in his last two.

    BOLD CHOICE

TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD (7.7m) has gone 10 GWs in a row without blanking. He’s managed nine clean sheets, five assists and a goal in that time. And with West Ham likely to sit deep at Anfield he’ll be whipping in a lot of crosses.

    ONE TO GET

    BRUNO FERNANDES | MANCHESTER UNITED | 8.0M

Bruno Fernandes has had an immediate impact on United’s midfield since his arrival from Sporting and is looking well worth his 8m price tag. He bagged an assist, hit the post and created three chances during an impressive performance at Chelsea. He’s already seems settled in the side and is emerging as an influential player in that number 10 role. With an ownership of 3.3 per cent at the time of writing, he’s a good differential for now and an excellent Son replacement.

    ONE TO AVOID

    JOHN LUNSDTRAM | SHEFFIELD UNITED | 5.0M

It’s unusual for player to feature in this category on the back of a goal-scoring game, let alone a budget defender. However, John Lundstram has clearly lost his place in Sheffield’s starting XI, coming off the bench in each of the last three games. The Blades also blank in GW28 while there are other viable options within his price bracket.

    BARGAIN BUY

    FEDERICO FERNANDEZ | NEWCASTLE UNITED | 4.5M

A potential replacement for the out of favour Lundstram is Newcastle’s Federico Fernandez. Despite a 4-0 defeat at Arsenal in GW26, the Magpies defence offers some good options and Fernandez is chief among them with excellent fixtures ahead. They’ve kept two clean sheets in their last four games and the Argentine centre-back has bagged maximum bonus points in both shut-outs.
