Gameweek 28 is upon us and it’s at this time of the season that dedicated Fantasy Premier League managers leave the casual ones behind.

It’s time for Blank Gameweeks, Double Gameweeks and those crucial Chip strategies.

Four teams don’t participate in this round of the Premier League fixtures – Manchester City, Arsenal, Sheffield United and Aston Villa.

That’s why Liverpool assets are vital in GW28, especially since the remaining teams offer few appealing options for the armband.

Here are a few tips to help guide you through GW28.

    CAPTAIN – MOHAMED SALAH | LIVERPOOL | 12.8M

It’s hard to look past Mohamed Salah for the captaincy. He’s been among the chief candidates for weeks now and with good reason. He’s blanked just twice in the last eight GWs and has three double-figure hauls in that time.

The Egyptian has been heavily involved in attack. No midfielder has had more shots in the last six GWs and he’s even created 15 chances in that time.

Then there’s also Salah’s outstanding record against Watford to consider. In five games against the Hornets, he’s bagged eight goals and two assists.

    ALTERNATIVES

TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD (7.7m) is second only to Salah and Kevin De Bruyne for points this season (163). He hasn’t blanked in a game he’s started since GW13. The full-back is second for key passes (73) and only Virgil van Dijk has more points from clean sheets. Need we say more?

SADIO MANE (12.3m) is back to full fitness and has already marked his return with a couple of goals. The fact that he’s 0.5m cheaper than Salah is very appealing as is his tallies of 13 goals and eight assists in 21 starts.

    BOLD CHOICE

DANNY INGS (7.1m) has disappointed with just one goal in his last four starts but had three shots against Villa last week. He plays West Ham who have conceded 42 big chances at home this season, the most in the league.

    ONE TO GET

    RICARDO PEREIRA | LEICESTER CITY | 6.3M

Leicester travel to Norwich and Ricardo Pereira could be the man to own ahead of even Jamie Vardy or James Maddison. He’s second for shots over the last four GWs and has five attacking returns this season to go with nine clean sheets.

    ONE TO AVOID

    JACK GREALISH | ASTON VILLA | 6.7M

There’s no denying that Jack Grealish has been in sensational form this season but the fact he’s playing for a poor Villa side flirting with relegation was always going to catch up to his FPL viability. They don’t play this weekend and with a difficult run ahead, it’s not worth holding on to him. His output has dipped as well with only two returns in the last six GWs.

    BARGAIN BUY

    CHARLIE TAYLOR | BURNLEY | 4.2M

If you’re looking for a budget signing who’s going to excite you with great attacking potential then Charlie Taylor is not the player for you. The Burnley full-back offers little in the final third and has no attacking returns this season. However, he’s become a regular in the first XI, playing every minute since GW18. The Clarets have impressed in defence of late with three clean sheets in the last four GWs. At 4.2m, he’s a steady asset to own.
