The post-lockdown Premier League fixture list is a hectic one which means there’s precious little time between Fantasy Premier League Gameweeks.

One way to ensure you keep raking in the points is by nailing your captaincy pick and that’s precisely what we aim to help you with.

We analyse the best options for the armband every GW, breaking them down into three categories: Top Pick, Alternative and Bold Choice.

Here are the picks for GW37+…

TOP PICK – KEVIN DE BRUYNE | MANCHESTER CITY | 10.7M

    Kevin De Bruyne

It’s understandable that FPL managers may be wary of handing Kevin De Bruyne the armband after he was left out of Manchester City’s 2-1 win over Bournemouth.

Pep Guardiola was no doubt keeping his talisman fresh for their FA Cup semi-final with Arsenal on Saturday. A trip to Watford comes only two days later but his omission against Bournemouth means De Bruyne should get the nod to face the Hornets.

The Belgian is chasing Thierry Henry’s record of 20 assists in a Premier League season and has already delivered three FPL assists since the restart, taking his actual tally to 16.

With two games left, De Bruyne will be at full throttle to hit his target.

    ALTERNATIVE – BRUNO FERNANDES | MANCHESTER UNITED | 9.1M

    Bruno Fernandes

When in doubt captain Bruno Fernandes, because even when he has a poor game, he ends up delivering returns. The man can’t help himself.

A below par display at Crystal Palace still yielded an assist for Marcus Rashford’s opener while he nearly bagged a goal himself, striking the upright in the second half.

The Portuguese has seven goals and eight assists since GW26, blanking just once in that time. Even with the matter of an FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea on Sunday, he should start when West Ham visit Old Trafford two days later.

    BOLD CHOICE – CHRIS WOOD | BURNLEY | 6.1M

    Chris Wood

Chris Wood has returned to fitness and with his first start since the league resumed, he scored a late equaliser from the spot to secure a 1-1 draw with Wolves.

He also had a couple of other shots during the encounter and looked sharp. With an ownership of just 1.2 per cent at the time of writing, he’s a massive differential. He takes on a relegated and demoralised Norwich City next.

The Canaries have kept just one clean sheet since GW26 and are on a losing streak of nine games in all competitions.

Daniel Farke’s side have a disastrous goal difference of -42 and have been particularly vulnerable from set-pieces – precisely the area in which Burnley and Wood excel.
