  • Cristiano Ronaldo admitted that his sensational strike which gave Juventus a vital win at Empoli happened so fast that he could not remember it.

The 33-year-old scored twice as Juventus came from behind to beat lowly Empoli 2-1 and maintain their scorching pace at the top of the Serie A table.

His first was a coolly-taken penalty after Ismael Bennacer was deemed to have fouled Paulo Dybala on 54 minutes.

But his second was much more spectacular as he sent a shot dipping and swerving past Ivan Provedel from outside the area in the 70th minute.

Ronaldo, who now boasts seven goals this season, praised his team-mates’ determination at the end of a gruelling week that included a 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

“It was a tough game. We knew it would be complicated, even the coach anticipated it, but we gave a good answer,” Ronaldo told Sky Sport Italia.

“In the second half we pushed more, created opportunities and deserved the victory.

“I don’t remember my goal very well, I’ll have to watch it again! It happened very quickly. I was confident and went for it.

“This was an important week, the team was tired after Manchester, and we did well in difficult circumstances.”
