Here’s what our latest European Team of the Week looks like:
GK: Illan Meslier (Leeds United)
Solid showing between the sticks against Chelsea, denying Thomas Tuchel’s side by making eight saves in a goalless draw. Meslier commanded his box well, claiming crosses with confidence to help secure a much needed clean sheet for this defence.
RB: Joao Cancelo (Man City)
Dangerous at the top end of the pitch. Whipped in a great delivery from a free-kick to assist John Stones’ opener. He had to be strong at the back as well with Ademola Lookman to content with and made seven tackles in the 3-0 win over Fulham.
CB: Wesley Fofana (Leicester City)
Stellar at the back, going about his business with minimum fuss, registering three tackles and four clearances. But he really impressed every time he stepped out of defence with the ball, striding forward confidently and progressing play up the pitch.
CB: Harry Maguire (Man United)
Manchester United dominated the ball in their 1-0 win against West Ham but Maguire still managed to stand out with key defensive interventions when called upon. He was a colossus at the back with five aerials won, seven clearances and one goal-saving block.

LB: Robin Gosens (Atalanta)
Continued his rich vein of form with another assist in a 3-1 win over Spezia. It was the fifth time he turned provider this season in Serie A, while the attack-minded left-back also has nine goals to his name.
CM: Rodrigo de Paul (Udinese)
Somewhat wayward with his passing in a 1-1 draw with Genoa, but was still key to Udinese going forward. No one had more than his five dribbles in the game and he rescued a point with an expertly dispatched penalty.
CM: Luis Alberto (Lazio)
Excellent strike to score from outside the box to cap a dominant display in the middle of the park. Alberto had the most touches [103] and made the most key passes [6] in the game.
CM: Thomas Muller (Bayern Munich)
A clever flicked header from a corner found Leon Goretzka to score the opener. Muller’s second assist came from a brilliant bit of play at the end of a fine move to set up Serge Gnabry.
Last season Thomas Muller broke the single season assist record in the Bundesliga with 21.

FW: Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City)
Bursting with confidence having scored in three-consecutive appearances. It was a great all-round display from Iheanacho as he bagged a hat-trick with a superb strike from distance for his third. In truth, he should’ve had more.
FW: Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)
The goal machine continues to edge close to Gerd Muller’s all-time Bundesliga record of 40 goals in a single season with his 32nd of the campaign. He was unlucky not to score more as well, hitting the woodwork twice in another top performance.
FW: Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus)
Header, right foot, left foot – a perfect hat-trick to mark the 57th of his career for Ronaldo. The 36-year-old’s future and, indeed, value has come into question since Juventus’ Champions League elimination last week and this was an emphatic and familiar response from the Portuguese.
