#360stats: Wenger to face nemesis Mourinho, West Ham in freefall

    Ahead of every round of Premier League games, Sport360 – with some help from our friends at Opta Stats – will provide the pick of the facts and figures. Here are this week's highlights:

    Southampton v Tottenham Hotspur

    Christian Eriksen.

    • Southampton have allowed fewer shots on target against them than any other team in the Barclays Premier League (93).
    • Tottenham have won their last five Premier League games against Southampton after losing four of the preceding five meetings.
    • Christian Eriksen has scored three goals in three Premier League games against Saints.
    • Robbie Fowler (twice) and Chris Sutton are the only two players to reach 20 goals in a Premier League season at a younger age than Harry Kane has this term.
    • Southampton have both scored (4%) and conceded (8%, level with Liverpool) the lowest proportion of headed goals this season.
    • If only second-halves of Premier League games counted this season, Saints would be second in the table behind only Chelsea.
    • Southampton have scored just eight goals in their last 11 Premier League matches.
    • 56 points after 33 matches is Southampton’s best ever Premier League performance, eight points ahead of the previous best which was 48 (2013/14 and 2002/03).
    • Spurs have fewer points after 33 matches of this season (57) than they had in any of the last three seasons (2011-12 59, 2012-13 61 or 2013-14 59).
    • Spurs have fired in more shots on target from outside the area than any other team (69) and scored a joint-division high 11 goals from long range (along with Man City).

    Burnley v Leicester City

    • Burnley are without a win in eight league meetings with Leicester City, drawing three and losing five.
    • David Nugent has scored in eight of his last 11 league appearances against his former side Burnley.
    • Leicester City were bottom of the table for 140 days before last weekend’s win over Swansea; no team has ever been bottom for that long a single PL season and not been relegated.
    • Only Aston Villa (9.2%) have a worse chance conversion rate than Burnley (9.4%) in the Barclays Premier League this season.
    • George Boyd has made the joint-most tackles in the Premier League this season (107) along with Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic.
    • The Foxes have scored in the final five minutes in each of their last four Premier League games, with two of these goals being winners.
    • Leicester are looking to keep back-to-back Premier League clean sheets for the first time since March 2004.
    • Burnley have mustered just one goal in their last 10 hours and 39 minutes of Premier League football.
    • Danny Ings has now gone eight Premier League appearances without a goal or an assist, while in the seven PL games prior to this he’d netted five and assisted two.
    • Leicester have been leading at half-time in a league-low four PL games this season, while Burnley have found themselves losing on a league-high 16 occasions at the break.

    Crystal Palace v Hull City

    • Crystal Palace have recovered more points from losing positions than any other team in the Barclays Premier League this season (18).
    • Hull City’s win against Crystal Palace in the reverse fixture ended a run of eight league games without a win against the Eagles (D4 L4).
    • Just one Hull City goal all season has been scored by an English player (Jake Livermore v Spurs in November).
    • Crystal Palace have committed more fouls than any other team in the Premier League this season (447).
    • Palace have kept just one clean sheet in 13 Premier League games since Alan Pardew took charge.
    • Hull City have only ever won one of their 14 Premier League games in the month of April (W1 D3 L10).
    • Mark Clattenburg has awarded eight penalties this season in 22 Premier League games – no referee has given more.
    • Hull City had lost one more game at this stage last season (17 in 32) than they have this season (16 in 32), but they had won three games more (9 v 6).
    • The Tigers have won just three points and scored just six goals in the 10 Premier League games that Nikica Jelavic has missed this season.
    • If Palace win this game, they’ll already equal their points tally from last season overall (45).

    Newcastle United v Swansea City

    • Against no side have Newcastle played more Premier League home games without a win than they have against the Swans (3, level with Hull City).
    • Swansea have won four and drawn one of their last five league clashes with Newcastle United.
    • Since John Carver took charge of Newcastle, only QPR (8) have won fewer points than the Magpies (9, level with Sunderland).
    • Newcastle’s opening goal has come at a later time, on average, than the opener of any other side this term (52nd minute).
    • St James Park is the only Premier League ground yet to see a penalty awarded this season.
    • Papiss Cisse has scored four goals in four Premier League apps against Swansea, although all four have come at the Liberty Stadium.
    • The Senegalese striker has scored four goals in his last six PL games at St James Park.
    • Nathan Dyer has not scored or assisted a single Premier League goal in 15 appearances since December 2, 2014.
    • Swansea’s last six Premier League away games have seen them alternate between wins and defeats – if this run was to continue, they’d win this match.
    • Newcastle have lost their last three Premier League games at home – they haven’t lost four successive home games since February 2014.

    Queens Park Rangers v West Ham United

    • Queens Park Rangers have allowed more shots on target against them than any other team in the Premier League (181).
    • The Hammers are without a win in nine away league games (D4 L5); only Burnley (10) are on a longer run without an away victory.
    • West Ham have lost a league-high seven points with goals conceded in the 90th minute or later.
    • QPR have conceded the first goal on 24 occasions in the Premier League this season; more often than any other side.
    • 27 Players have started a Premier League game for QPR this season; more than at any other club.
    • Charlie Austin has had a hand in the highest proportion of his sides’ goals in the Premier League this season (55%).
    • The Hoops have won just one point in nine Premier League London derbies this season (W0 D1 L8).
    • The Hammers have scored just nine goals in nine Premier League London derbies in 2014-15.
    • QPR winger Matt Phillips has been involved in nine goals (two goals & seven assists) in his last nine PL appearances.
    • QPR have won a higher proportion of points at home than any other PL side this season (73.1%)

    Stoke City v Sunderland

    • There have been six red cards in 13 Barclays Premier League meetings between these sides, with the Potters on the wrong end of four of them.
    • Stoke City are the only team in the Premier League who have not picked up any red cards this season.
    • The Black Cats have kept six clean sheets in their last 10 against Stoke City, though have conceded seven across the other four.
    • Stoke have kept only four clean sheets in their last 18 Premier League home games.
    • Sunderland have the lowest scoring top goalscorer in the Premier League this season – Adam Johnson, Wickham & Fletcher (four goals).
    • Mame Biram Diouf has scored in each of his last three Premier League appearances at the Britannia Stadium.
    • Sunderland have won just one of their last nine Premier League games (W1 D3 L5).
    • Peter Crouch has scored the joint-most headed goals in Premier League history (46 – level with Alan Shearer).
    • Mark Hughes won eight and drew one of his first nine PL games as a manager against Sunderland, but has lost three of his four since.
    • The Black Cats have scored a league-high proportion (24%) of goals from outside the box in the Premier League this season.

    West Bromwich Albion v Liverpool

    • After failing to score in their first nine Premier League meetings with Liverpool, West Brom have scored in seven of their last eight.
    • Brendan Rodgers won both PL meetings with the Baggies as Swansea manager but has only won two in five as Liverpool boss (D1 L2).
    • Tony Pulis has never lost a Premier League home game against Liverpool (W3 D3). Steven Gerrard would become the 12th player in Premier League history to make 500 PL appearances, should be play this match.
    • Only Ryan Giggs (632 for Man Utd) and Jamie Carragher (508 for Liverpool) have made 500+ PL appearances for a single club.
    • If only goals from English players counted, Liverpool would top the Premier League table on 65 points.
    • The Hawthorns has seen 11 goals scored in the opening 15 minutes of matches this season; more than at any other Premier League ground.
    • Mario Balotelli has still scored just one goal in the Premier League for Liverpool (in 14 apps). The Italian scored two and was sent off in his first ever Premier League game at the Hawthorns for Man City.
    • 15 of Saido Berahino’s 18 goals in all competitions this season have come at the Hawthorns (83%).

    Manchester City v Aston Villa

    • Manchester City have won more Barclays Premier League games (20) and scored more goals (65) v Aston Villa than against any other team.
    • Aston Villa have scored just six second-half goals all term; the Premier League record-low for a season is 11, last set by Derby in 2007/08.
    • Indeed had only second-halves counted, the Villans would be bottom of the table on just 20 points, eight points behind 19th place QPR.
    • Yaya Toure has scored in his last three Premier League appearances against Aston Villa.
    • Aston Villa have scored the same number of league goals under Tim Sherwood this season (12 in eight games) as they managed under Paul Lambert (12 in 25 games).
    • Sergio Aguero has now reached 20 goals in two different Premier League seasons; only four players have done it more often in the competition’s history (Shearer 7, Henry 5, Van Nistelrooy 4, L. Ferdinand 3).
    • Christian Benteke has scored nine goals in nine competitive games under Tim Sherwood.
    • Aston Villa have picked up more red cards than any other team in the Premier League this season (7).
    • The average age of Manchester City’s starting line-up this season has been 28y 331d old; the oldest in the Premier League. 
    • The two players to have attempted the most shots (excl. blocked) without scoring in the PL this season could play in this game – Jesus Navas and Fabian Delph (30 shots each).

    Everton v Manchester United

    • Everton have dropped more points from winning positions than any other team in the Barclays Premier League this season (19).
    • The Red Devils have won just three of their last nine away league games (D4 L2). Everton have lost 31 Premier League games against Manchester United; four more than against any other opponent.
    • The only team to lose to an opponent in the Premier League on more occasions than Everton vs. Man Utd (31) is Aston Villa vs Man Utd (32).
    • Everton have missed three penalties this season in the Premier League; more than any other side.
    • Four different players have taken a penalty for Everton in the 2014-15 PL, and three have missed, including Leighton Baines at Old Trafford against Man Utd earlier this season.
    • Romelu Lukaku is one of only four players to have scored a Premier League hat-trick versus Manchester United (Kuyt, Bentley and Eto’o the others).
    • Radamel Falcao hasn’t managed to fire a single shot on target in his last eight Premier League appearances for Man Utd, despite playing 355 minutes in these games.
    • Manchester United have suffered a defeat in each of their last two Premier League trips to Goodison Park (1-0 in Aug 2012 and 2-0 in Apr 2014).
    • Man Utd have not lost three successive away games in the league against Everton since September 1987 (four successive defeats at Goodison Park).

    Arsenal v Chelsea

    • Olivier Giroud has scored 10 goals in his last 12 matches in all competitions.
    • Arsene Wenger has lost just five competitive home games by a 3+ goal margin during his tenure as Arsenal manager; three of which have come against Chelsea.
    • Didier Drogba has scored eight times in 11 Premier League appearances against Arsenal in his career. Against no team has he scored more in the division (also scored eight vs WBA).
    • Jose Mourinho has never lost as an opposition coach against Arsene Wenger in any competition (W7 D5 L0).
    • Arsenal have won just two of their last 12 league clashes with Chelsea (D2 L8).
    • Chelsea have kept four clean sheets in their last six clashes with Arsenal, conceding just two goals in total.
    • In the reverse fixture against the Blues back in October, Arsenal failed to have a shot on target for the first time in a Premier League match since September 2003 (Manchester United away).
    • Cesc Fabregas has a league-high 16 Premier League assists this season. Only Thierry Henry  (20 in 2002-03), Frank Lampard (18 in 2004-05) and Fabregas himself (17 in 2007-08) have ever registered more in a single Premier League campaign.
    • Arsenal have won more points in 2015 than any other Premier League side (33). Chelsea have scored first in all 20 of their games in all competitions in 2015.
