Sergio Ramos insists he is happy to play in centre midfield. Ramos was again shifted from his usual defensive position for Real Madrid’s 3-2 victory over Sevilla on Saturday, having also played in the middle of the pitch for the second leg of his team’s Champions League win over Atletico Madrid.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti has refused to rule out the possibility of playing Ramos in midfield against the Italian giants tomorrow, and the 29 year-old claimed he would be happy to continue to fill the un-accustomed position during Luka Modric’s ongoing injury absence.
“I just take orders,” Ramos said. “I always try to play at my best and midfield is a position that I am increasingly comfortable in. If the team is a little more balanced and relaxed at the back, all the better. My first aim is to help out.”

Saturday’s victory over Sevilla was a highly eventful affair which saw Ramos – who started his career with the Andalusian club – inadvertently hand the home team a route back into the game by conceding a needless penalty with a rash challenge on Aleix Vidal in first-half stoppage time.
Carlos Bacca’s subsequent conversion from 12 yards made the score 2-1 at half-time, visibly angering manager Ancelotti as he headed down the tunnel.
Although he accepted it was a challenge he didn’t need to make, Ramos wasn’t prepared to show too much remorse, stating: “It wasn’t the first penalty and it won’t be the last. I am sometimes guilty of trying to get the ball out when I should just stand back a little.”
The match-winning hero was Cristiano Ronaldo, who bounced back from recent criticism to score all three of his team’s goals, including two outstanding headers.
Ramos said: “Cristiano lives for goals and punishes himself when he does not score. But his abilities as a player cannot be questioned and I hope he can get a good run of goals to help everyone.”
