  • Kevin de Bruyne's winner came in the 91st minute.

Kevin De Bruyne struck an injury-time winner as Manchester City came from behind to claim a dramatic 2-1 win over Sevilla in the Champions League.

City had looked to be labouring to another unconvincing result in the competition, with only an Adil Rami own goal after Yevhen Konoplyanka’s earlier strike saving them from possible defeat at the Etihad Stadium.

But as the game moved into four minutes of added time, De Bruyne raced on to a Yaya Toure through-ball and guided a shot into the bottom corner.

The goal transformed the mood at a hitherto subdued ground, with the even later introduction of Vincent Kompany off the bench further lifting fans.

Two of City’s last three group games are away, starting with the return at Sevilla in two week’s time.

Anthony Martial scored a delightful diving header to rescue Manchester United from a damaging defeat at CSKA Moscow.

United initially froze on a sub-zero night in the Russian capital, gifting CSKA Moscow a penalty when Martial handled in the box.

Seydou Doumbia converted the follow up after David de Gea had tipped Roman Eremenko’s spot-kick on to the post, but Martial ensured the match ended in a 1-1 draw with a second-half header.

Wolfsburg defeated PSV Eindhoven 2-0 at home in the Champions League to go top of Group B.

A goal immediately after half-time from Bas Dost, followed by another within 11 minutes from Max Kruse, gave them a deserved victory against opponents who, on goal difference, had previously led their competitive Champions League group.

Paris St Germain and Real Madrid played out a goalless Champions League draw at the Parc des Princes.

The teams went into the encounter in France unbeaten in all competitions and with Group A wins in the European competition over Skahkhtar Donetsk and Malmo.

The 0-0 result means that neither PSG nor Real have conceded a goal in the first three games in the pool.

Galatasaray defeated Benfica 2-1 to claim their first win in 10 fixtures in Europe and revive their hopes of advancing from Group C into the Champions League’s final 16.

The talented Nicolas Gaitan gave the visitors a second-minute lead before Selcuk Inan, from the penalty spot, and Lukas Podolski secured a vital victory.

Atletico Madrid brushed aside Astana 4-0 on Wednesday evening to return to winning ways at the Vicente Calderon stadium.

The Spaniards, surprise 2-1 losers at home to Benfica in the previous round, turned in a dominating performance and went ahead in the 23rd minute through Saul Niguez.

Jackson Martinez opened his goalscoring account in the competition by hitting Atletico’s second of the evening six minutes later.

Substitute Oliver netted his first Champions League goal in the 63rd minute to make it 3-0 before an own goal from Astana defender Denis Dedechko one minute from time wrapped up the win.
