  • The two Beckhams.

Last night football fans across the globe were treated to a rare sporting sight as David Beckham was replaced by his 16-year-old son, Brooklyn Beckham in front of 76,000 fans, at Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium.

The moment drew the loudest cheers of the night, a star-studded affair between Great Britain and Ireland and the Rest of the World in aid of children’s charity Unicef.

Organised by Beckham, who is an ambassador of the charity, the former England captain said he was “proud” and described the event as a “special day.”

“I wasn’t meant to join him but Sol came off,” he said. “Having Brooklyn out there was special.

“One of my lasting memories is winning the title and walking around with Brooklyn when he was 18 months.”

Fans that attended the game had the chance to see the likes of Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and former England goalkeeper David Seaman turn out for the Brits, managed by Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Rest of The World XI side were coached by Carlo Ancelloti, and were supposed to be led by Zinidene Zidane, but the former Real Madrid legend was absent due to the terrorist attacks in Paris.

Luis Figo and three-time World Player of the Year Ronaldinho still managed to leave fans watching in awe – despite being on the receiving end of a 3-1 defeat.

Scholes and Michael Owen (2) got the goals for the ‘home’ side, while Dwight Yorke replied for the Rest of the World.

It was the tale of two Beckhams that stole the show, however.
