Thomas Delaney has predicted a glittering future for exciting teenage England prospect Jadon Sancho.

The 18-year-old made his international debut as a substitute during England’s behind-closed-doors Nations League game against Croatia last month.

He is also in the squad for England’s matches against the United States and Croatia at Wembley later this week, and Denmark midfielder Delaney knows from first-hand experience how rich a talent his Borussia Dortmund team-mate is.

Dortmund beat Bayern Munich 3-2 last weekend and currently top the Bundesliga by four points, with Sancho an integral part of that blistering early season form.

“You can see straight away that he is a great player,” Delaney told Press Association Sport after arriving at Denmark’s training base in Newport ahead of Friday’s Nations League appointment with Wales.

“He plays with a lot of joy – he is a very positive player.

“He doesn’t see boundaries, he sees opportunities, and you see that in his style of play. He is always seeking a challenge, always a one versus one or one versus two. I am sure he will be a bright star in the future.

“He is very relaxed as a person. There is big pressure at a club like Dortmund, but maybe he has come at the right moment where maybe there is not that expectation to win a trophy, but to build the team.

“From my own experience, a national team is a little bit different than playing league football, but he is performing at Dortmund, and that gives you every tool in the box to perform at international level.

“He is 18-years-old, and it’s crazy to say that you expect so much of him to perform in the national team, but I am sure he will. If not now, then later, because he is such a big talent.”
