Bayern Munich recorded their first win in four matches as they won 2-1 against Werder Bremen at the Weser-Stadion.

In a tough game with chances for both sides, it was a Serge Gnabry brace which ensured Bayern took all three points as Bremen defender Niklas Moisander was sent off, with the home side finishing the match with 10 men.

Gnabry opened the scoring in the 20th minute, against the side he spent a year with, and got his second in the second half, in response to Bremen’s Yuya Osako’s 33rd minute headed equaliser.

Japanese forward Osakop beat Jerome Boateng and Niklas Sule to head the ball past the goalkeeper, the first headed goal conceded by Bayern this season.

The result puts the Bavarian side in third place, although two of the top four did not play on Saturday.

Borussia Dortmund maintained their unbeaten Bundesliga season as they secured all three points with a 2-0 win over Freiburg.

A Marco Reus penalty gave the home side the lead in the 40th minute when Englishman Jadon Sancho was brought down in the box. Paco Alcacer then scored his 11th goal in as many games to secure the victory for the leaders in injury time.

The result leaves Dortmund seven points clear at the top of the Bundesliga, with Borussia Monchengladbach in second place.

A penalty for each side saw Hoffenheim draw 1-1 with Schalke at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena.

After having a penalty overruled on VAR in the first half, Hoffenheim were awarded a spot kick in the second half when referee Robert Kampka decided a shot from Ishak

Belfodil had hit a Schalke defender on the arm and Andrej Kramaric converted from the spot to give the home side a 1-0 lead.

Just over 10 minutes later Schalke were awarded a penalty when Daniel Caligiuri was judged to have been brought down unfairly by centre-back Ermin Bicakcic and Nabil Bentaleb made no mistake to equalise from the spot.

A single fist half Anastasios Donis goal was enough to give Stuttgart the win against Augsburg at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Donis scored in the 39th minute of a hard-fought match. The result moves Stuttgart out of the relegation zone, although only by two points.

Hertha Berlin beat Hannover 2-0 away from home with their first league win since the defeat of Bayern Munich on September 28.

A Jordan Torunarigha goal gave the visitors the lead just before half-time and the victory was wrapped up in the 74th minute by Vedad Ibisevic with his sixth goal of the season.
