Barcelona have been handed a significant boost as Luis Suarez stepped up his return from a knee injury which was initially meant to rule him out for a month.

The Uruguayan sustained the injury in the Spanish Super Cup defeat to Real Madrid last week after colliding with goalkeeper Keylor Navas.

But it looks like he is set to return soon as he completed a series of agility and passing drills at Barcelona’s training ground.

Suarez’s return is a timely boost for manager Ernesto Valverde who finds himself under pressure after the departure of Neymar to PSG.

The Catalan giants were victorious in their opening match against Real Betis, but they are desperate for an adequate replacement for the Brazilian.
