Atletico Madrid closed the gap on La Liga front-runners Barcelona and Real Madrid with a routine 3-0 home win against Huesca.

Antoine Griezmann, Thomas Partey and Koke were all on target inside the opening 33 minutes as Atletico trimmed the lead on the leaders to two points.

Griezmann was only 11 minutes short of 400 without a goal when he opened the scoring.

The France striker ended his goal drought after 16 minutes after being set up by Diego Costa.

Partey then grabbed his first goal of the season and Koke was on target four minutes later to end Huesca hopes.

Atletico lost Uruguay defender Jose Gimenez five minutes before half-time with a leg injury to somewhat sour the victory.

Willian Jose salvaged a point for Real Sociedad on his return from injury in a 2-2 home draw with Rayo Vallecano.

The Brazilian, on for the last half-hour, headed home 12 minutes from time to spare Sociedad blushes after Jon Bautisto had given them an early lead.

Rayo began to exert their authority and Luis Advincula and Oscar Trejo both scored in five first-half minutes, the second goal coming from the penalty spot after Bebe had fallen under what appeared to be minimal contact.

Espanyol maintained their impressive start to the season with a 1-0 victory over Eibar.

Mario Hermoso headed home midway through the second half to give Espanyol a third straight win at their Cornella stadium home.

Eibar’s best chance came at the start of the second half when Diego Lopez got finger tips to deny Marc Cardona from close range.
